Charity selects Pier to raise awareness of vital work supporting families

Following a competitive pitch, East Anglian-based Ormiston Families has appointed Pier to handle its strategic positioning, PR and marketing activity.

The brief sees Pier creating a communications strategy to grow the profile of Ormiston and position it as experts and the leading family charity in the region.

The Pier team is also involved in the promotion of fundraising events, stakeholder engagement and co-ordinating a social media campaign to further raise awareness of the charity’s work.

Supporting four key areas of activity, Ormiston Families works with families to ensure their emotional, physical and social wellbeing; offers programmes to improve the educational outcomes and life chances for children and young people, works with prisoners and their families to minimise the impact of imprisonment on their children; and provides services that lend a helping hand to families during the early years of their child’s life.

Graham Ball, director of fundraising and communications says of the appointment: “The combination of Pier’s charity experience and their national and regional perspective makes them perfectly placed to help us to meet our challenges. The Pier team has got off to a fantastic start, especially raising the profile of our Walk with a Fork fundraising events and we are confident they will make a real difference to the awareness of our charity.”

Kate Bowden Smith, director at Pier adds:  “With 1 in 10 children experiencing mental health problems, and the number of children in care in England rising each year, the work Ormiston Families undertakes across the East of England is vital. Our experience in the charity sector has enabled us to ‘hit the ground running’ and we’re looking forward to playing a key role in growing awareness of the fantastic work Ormiston Families undertakes.”
