Spring 2018 update from Pier’s food & drink team

With a dedicated food & drink team at Pier, we work with an array of well-known brands on the supermarket shelves. Whether that’s engaging consumers on social media or securing great media coverage, there’s never a dull moment and certainly never an empty stomach!

Here’s a few of the things we’ve been up to recently.

Metro champions ‘vlogger bursary’
In March we devised and launched a competition for travel-inspired chilled ready meal brand The City Kitchen to give one aspiring vlogger everything they need to travel the world and kick-start a career on YouTube. Thanks to the originality of the competition and some hard-working media relations, Metro was among the national media titles that covered our competition and included our call to action – read the story here.

Hard-working ambassador partnership
After negotiating a successful partnership with actor and chef Nicola Millbank for our client Irish natural yoghurt brand Glenilen Farm, in January we secured a great spot in New! magazine. The coverage was the final in a series of consumer lifestyle media pieces Pier achieved for the brand including Metro, Mail Online, Sunday Mirror and Good Things magazine.

A Royal thumbs up from Fred
We ensured client and every bakers’ best friend, Homepride flour was the first brand to tweet when the details of Harry and Meghan’s Royal wedding cake was announced, keeping the brand current and relevant on the ever competitive world of social media. Check it out here.

East of England Co-op makes the front pages
And finally, in December we secured blanket coverage across national TV, radio, print and online in the UK, and across the world, for our client the East of England Co-op. Read more about their initiative to sell food past its Best Before in this widely read piece on the BBC, just one of the thousands of pieces of media coverage achieved.
