Pier Helps Build Success of Art on the Prom

Continuing their support of Felixstowe’s annual celebration of local art, Art on the Prom, Pier provided public relations services in order to raise awareness and encourage locals to get involved in the special event.

Over 20,000 people attended the event earlier this month, which saw a dazzling array of paintings, photography, ceramics, sculpture and glass, spread over 86 stalls along the seafront. Artwork from local school children was also displayed on large canvases and hung across the picturesque spa gardens. The pieces were based on the theme “Portray a piece of the sky” and made with the help of qualified artists.

Steve and Mary Wyatt, the event organisers, said: “This year’s event was fantastic. Thanks to Pier spreading the word the turnout was record-breaking – our best yet. It’s fantastic to see such support for this local event; it really brings the community together.”

Entertainment included live music, children’s art workshops and a variety of entertainers including a hula hoop dancer and magician.

Artists and visitors interested in the 2012 event should visit www.artontheprom.org where more information will be available over the coming months.
