Pier Year in Review 2025

From picking pears to helicopter rides, join us for a look back over the last 12 months

It’s the Pier Year in Review!

Were you part of our story this year? Thank you to our team, clients, suppliers and friends for your role in our journey over the past 12 months.

Let’s cast our minds back 12 months…

January

It was a flying start to the year, landing some strong earned media coverage for clients, including this detailed BBC News online piece and broadcast too for Freeport East.

While AI continued to accelerate through 2025, we were not always tied to our computers, and made sure to step away this year where we could, seeing clients and contacts face-to-face at events.

In renewables, Laura went to Scottish Renewables’ Offshore Wind Conference, while Amy and Sian took part in the EastWind Forum: Powering up 2025, covering two renewables hot spots at opposite ends of the UK.

We celebrated the return of client ScottishPower Renewables, with a brief to support comms for their offshore windfarm projects in East Anglia.

For client Fenmarc, we were excited to see our influencer partnership for prepared vegetable brand VEG TABLE go live.

February

Our food & drink portfolio grew in February as Savencia Fromage & Dairy briefed Pier to deliver a PR campaign for its Haute Fromagerie brand, a great day in the office for this cheese-loving company.

Our renewables and DCO stakeholder specialists were back in Yorkshire, running a series of consultation events for a proposed solar farm.

And we received the Communications Management Standard (CMS) accreditation from the PRCA, celebrating the quality of our governance, communications excellence and high operating standards.

March

We’d really gathered steam by March.

We delivered a mailshot for British Solar Renewables‘ (BSR) Dengie Solar Park, where ground-breaking began. Work on new client the Tarchon Interconnector was at full pace, with Pier running a non-statutory consultation phase, including several events across key locations in Essex.

We were in our favourite place – the pub – shooting for the Pubs Code Adjudicator.

Bord Bia and DMC Foods joined as clients, with an exciting new brief to promote their healthy ready meal brand Fit Foods with a UK trade audience, following huge success in Ireland.

And it was Lisa we celebrated in March, who was shortlisted for a national Inspiring Women Award (Campaign Magazine) at a glitzy – and insightful – awards bash in London.

April

It was a broadcast heavy month in April, welcoming a variety of national BBC journalists and ITV to the launch of the School Dinners exhibition at The Food Museum.

Once again, we were at the EEEGR House of Commons reception where client ScottishPower Renewables were speaking. With stakeholder remits for multiple solar farm developments on our books at the moment, you won’t be surprised to read we were at Solar & Storage Live this month too.

May

Renewables events came thick and fast in May. We were at the Suffolk Show (where ironically the wind was making its presence felt!) supporting ScottishPower Renewables with their stand.

In Scotland Steph was at All Energy Exhibition & Conference in Glasgow, and in East Anglia Kate hosted a table for clients and contacts at EEEGR’s SNS2025 event.

VEG TABLE’s 3 minute meals launched across social media and traditional media.

Olivia was particularly busy in May across multiple accounts. We hand-delivered cheese platter Haute Fromagerie to journalists from Kent to Edinburgh, and after a years’ maternity cover contract ended, posted our last social media post for Supreme Petfoods. We miss the floof!

We also had our annual team away day – business planning in the morning, treats in the afternoon, and this year it was Monopoly Lifesized London. Much fun.

The winning team!

June

We started the month in London supporting the Pubs Code Adjudicator to announce the results of its Annual Tied Tenants survey to industry and media. Our event enjoyed a beautiful Thames back-drop at the stunning Doggett’s Coat & Badge on the South Bank.

There were more solar farm consultation events in Yorkshire for the proposed Hooton Pagnell Renewable Park, keeping our TCPA stakeholder specialists busy for client British Solar Renewables.

In Suffolk, we supported one of many public information days this year and held a media call with the East Anglian Air Ambulance for ScottishPower Renewables, as it announced its sponsorship of obstacle challenge event Only The Brave.

July

Sound the new starters klaxon! In July, Francesca joined Pier as an account assistant, plus we welcomed summer intern Jenny for the month.

We packed up 40 influencer boxes for goats’ cheese brand Chavroux, landing some strong results on social media in this influencer gifting push, supported by this gorgeous paid partnership post.

Our food PR specialists also secured national earned media coverage with case studies & research on families living dairy-free for Vitalite Dairy Free spread.

Still Good Food – our charity partner – welcomed Clare Countess of Euston, The Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk who presented them with the prestigious King’s Award for Voluntary Service. Amy and Jenny joined to help celebrate this milestone in the charity’s history.

August

We celebrated a trio of Pier promotions in August! Sian became a Senior Account Executive, Olivia became Account Manager and Steph became Director. Good timing as we headed to Bury St Edmunds for our annual summer event to celebrate, enjoying a private room at Damson & Wilde.

Over the summer both Lisa and Francesca were in Bury St Edmunds again to volunteer for Still Good Food at events at the Arc.

While most were enjoying the sun, we were naturally deep in Christmas mode and Olivia made sure Good Housekeeping received samples of Haute Fromagerie for its prestigious annual taste testing. It went on to rank first in its Best Christmas Cheeses 2025 feature – wahoo!

September

A quieter August paved the way for a traditionally busy return to normality in September. We networked at events including the launch of the Clean & Green Awards, Solar & Storage Live (again!) and an EEEGR breakfast meeting. Sian joined the ScottishPower Renewables stand at East Anglian Air Ambulance’s Only the Brave event.

Amy popped to Belfast for a meeting, before delivering a bite-sized storytelling session at the Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival.

After a year away, account director Caroline re-joined Pier in September. She wrote a blog about the accident that kept her in hospital for six and a half months and changed her life forever – it’s a must read if you’ve not already.

Work started for DMC Foods, announcing the launch of Fit Foods ready meals in Morrisons to trade media. Laura and the Freeport East team also landed some great coverage as Ukrainian drone company Ukrspecsystems announced its investment in a Suffolk factory.

The whole company also got moving with a ‘Walk against waste’ fundraising challenge for Still Good Food.

October

We produced a new community newsletter for the Tarchon Interconnector in October, and secured some strong coverage for Cathedral City in the competitive Focus on Protein feature in The Grocer.

For Still Good Food we welcomed BBC Look East to a glean to celebrate another year saving food from waste.

We also kicked off a new study with Babergh & Mid Suffolk Council and West Suffolk Council and celebrated our third Cyber Essentials accreditation.

November

After the success of producing a new Skills Guide for ScottishPower Renewables over the summer, the team produced the winter issue of the East Angle.

Between a trip to Yorkshire for stakeholder meetings and some time in a helicopter at Renewables UK’s Floating Offshore Wind event in Aberdeen, Steph was having a busy November. She also secured a new client (more on this in 2026!) and a new project for Essex County Council, launching the Greater Essex Business Board.

Communications and stakeholder relations support continued in the autumn for Low Carbon’s proposed Beacon Fen Energy Park.

And in food, we celebrated some fantastic coverage in convenience titles for Fieldfare’s latest NPD, such as this in Forecourt Trader.

December

And the final month of the year rolls in! We supported our local club by attending a masquerade ball themed Christmas party at Ipswich Town Football Club (ITFC).

Amy did the Marketing vs The World podcast, talking about food & drink, landing just as an interview we secured for DMC Foods was also published on Just Food. The final issue of The Grocer landed with strong penetration across end of year category reports for Saputo Dairy UK brands (Cathedral City, Frylight, Country Life, Clover, Vitalite, Utterly Butterly and Willow.)

Following the June and July period of consultation, the planning application for BSR’s Hooton Pagnell Renewable Park (a solar farm and Battery Energy Storage System or BESS) in South Yorkshire was submitted.

Finally, just one week before we finished for Christmas, our client Five Estuaries Wind Farm received its Development Consent Order (DCO) from the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero. Cheers to that!

And that’s it! From DCO’s to (school) dinners, it’s been another wonderfully varied and rewarding year of Pier.

We’re still working hard getting ahead for what is set to be a busy January, but we’ll be taking a short break over Christmas. See you next year and THANK YOU!
