The UK’s renewable energy sector is buzzing — and this early summer’s packed calendar of events has shown exactly why. From Parliament receptions to county fairs, Team Pier has been everywhere that matters to help drive the clean energy transition. We work with a broad spectrum of utility-scale projects and clients, from Solar and BESS to international interconnectors, from offshore wind to their home ports, and more. This breadth of experience saw us championing the clean energy transition at a swathe of renewable energy events across this country over the past six weeks. Let’s dive in!
House of Commons Reception with the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR)
Our work in stakeholder engagement means that we’re often connecting with communities and decision makers where it counts: in their local communities. But when you’re looking to influence political stakeholders at the heart of government energy policy, that means going to Parliament. Literally. On the 30th April, Kate, Molly and Sian attended the House of Commons for the EEEGR Reception, where a series of talks from industry leaders, Pier clients and colleagues showcased how to help the East of England lead in the UK’s transition to a secure, low-carbon energy future. With ‘stabilising offshore wind’, ‘fuelling the regional talent pipeline’, and ‘unblocking the electricity grid’ amongst them, the event served as a great platform for influence, with MP for Lowestoft Jess Asato, and Chair of the Energy Security and Net Zero Select Committee Bill Esterson taking time to connect with project teams from around East Anglia.

All Energy
From the most populous city in England to the most populous city in Scotland – the Pier team attended this year’s vibrant All Energy conference in Glasgow with renewed renewable focus. Steph and Laura met with clients including ScottishPower Renewables, Alcemi, BlueFloat Nadara partnership, colleagues, and even family – shout out to Laura’s Dad who was there with AECOM!
For Steph and Laura, the event highlighted the increasing role of AI in the energy sector, the potential of GB Energy, and the current opportunities and challenges within the onshore wind supply chain. The key takeaway was how important storytelling and factual, honest communications was in building trust and support for the UK’s energy transition.
SNS 2025
The SNS conference, held this year at the Norfolk Showground is an annual highlight for the energy community in East Anglia. This year’s event absolutely proved the rule, showing the power of human connection to help scale up and speed up our energy transition. Kate, Steph, Molly and Sian were on-hand, distributing the East Angle, ScottishPower Renewables’ regular community engagement newsletter, and supporting a new energy project to connect with the local supply chain – we’ve already seen a great response from the East Anglia energy community! In fact, the event was a fantastic celebration of growth and the local talent pool overall, with the Pier team connecting with friends and colleagues at the Inward Investment Team for Essex County Council to champion the regional skills and economic development pipeline. And of course, SNS is celebrated for its gala dinner experience, with one-of-a-kind entertainment (#IYKYK) and excellent networking opportunities around local food from the Norfolk Garden Kitchen Café.

Suffolk Show
But it’s not just about showing up for government or for industry. Our early summer renewable energy events schedule also saw Kate, Amy and Sian support the ScottishPower Renewables team at the Suffolk Show – a fantastic annual agricultural show at Trinity Park near Ipswich. Attracting thousands of visitors each year for a day of family fun, the show provides a great a way for the team to meet with the community, share more about the East Anglia offshore wind farm projects and answer questions. Pier helped curate and set-up the stand, which included a series of science workshops to inspire the next generation of renewable energy champions, as well as a VR archaeology experience to help bring to life the challenges, opportunities and stories hidden in our local area. Not a bad effort for perhaps the two windiest days of the year so far – perhaps fitting for a day celebrating the clean power of offshore wind!
Global Offshore Wind
Then, in sweltering 30+ London summer sun, Steph attended this year’s Global Offshore Wind event. A keynote from UK energy secretary Ed Miliband with £1 billion pledge to industry, roused spirits and sparked serious conversations. Meanwhile, the clear message throughout the event was the need for stronger collaboration and commitment between public and private sectors. An epic international turnout underscored offshore wind’s global importance, but sharp debate highlighted calls for clearer UK policy and faster action on regulatory and grid delays. At the event, it was also great to see the East of England Pavilion was buzzing with activity, a fantastic showcase of the region’s pivotal role in the UK’s offshore wind sector.
Thanks to RenewableUK for another standout event. Such a great way to support and reconnect with clients and friends – EEEGR, Freeport East, ScottishPower Renewables, RWE, Bluefloat Nadara, Ørsted and Equinor – to name just a few!
Even more this summer
And even with this high-energy start to the summer, there was still more to come for Team Pier. Olivia and Molly are supporting British Solar Renewables with the community consultation for a new solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in South Yorkshire (you can learn more here), and Amy and Sian helped ScottishPower Renewables brave obstacles (and a media photocall) to celebrate their new partnership with fantastic local charity, East Anglia Air Ambulance.
Showing up for renewables – for our projects, clients, and for the planet – is kind of a Pier thing, after all…
